Happiness involves mindfulness. You choose to be happy each day.
That doesn’t mean that you have rose-colored glasses or that you don’t live in reality. It simply means that you choose happiness each day, every day.
It means that you don’t let your mood control you – you control your mood. You practice being happy.
If something happens to ruin your mood, you acknowledge it and then move on. If something happens that causes you to be sad or to grieve, don’t gloss over it. Work through those feelings accordingly, then choose happiness once again.
There are 4 things that can help you feel happy:
- Get enough sleep – being exhausted will leave you frazzled.
- Exercise – even 10 minutes a day can make a difference in your mood.
- Take time to look around you – what are small things that make you happy? A flower, a bird singing, a child’s laughter? Drink in the small things.
- Help others – this can be a great source of happiness, and you’ll be making the world a better place at the same time. Keep a journal of things that make you happy every day. Choose 3 things to be happy about and write them down for 30 days. At the end of the 30 days, look back and see what has brought a smile to your face.
