…says a woman who thanks the hero who found a wallet in the snow and drove it to her house.
A Maryland family wishes to publicly thank a stranger for going above and beyond—just in time for the New Year.
“What a wonderful human being!!” That’s how Laura Degnon started her email to GNN, wishing to share the story of a good Samaritan who made a difference in their lives.
Jake, her son, discovered one Friday that he had misplaced his wallet the night before.
It snowed a couple of inches overnight in Rockville, making it difficult for them to find anything outside his car or in the last store where he had stopped for a snack.
She said, “We shoveled so many places hunting for it.” They were also driven by the fact that his wallet was abnormally stuffed with “quite a bit of Christmas money, college money, and, of course, his school ID, license, debit, and credit cards.”
However, they were unable to locate it.
Laura was up early on Saturday morning, saying her goodbyes to Jake as he returned to the University of South Carolina, and cleaning up around the house, when the doorbell rang at 8:00 a.m.
“A beautiful man by the name of Juan was standing there, much to my surprise, inquiring as to whether Jake lived here.”
“I burst out laughing, and inquired whether he had discovered the wallet by coincidence.”
Juan had gotten up early on a Saturday morning and drove to their house to return Jake’s wallet, which he had located in the parking lot of the business where Jake had purchased the snack.
Nothing was missing, and everything was in working order.
“What a wonderful person!! Juan brightened my son’s and my day in ways he will never know!”
“You have one hell of an employee,” she said to Juan’s employer, Brightview Landscaping in Clarksburg, Maryland.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
