More Growing, Less Reinventing

Should we have to reinvent ourselves every year or should we just continue to grow? The Spring season always seems to follow the budding awakening of many Americans. Somehow, many of us find a way to make a list of New Year’s resolutions that either don’t stick just like the rare snow on a South Carolina road in the wintertime or that ends up being the same list of redundant things from the previous year.

Let’s stop for a second and do a quick self check. Have you already ditched your New Year’s resolutions from a few months ago? Most likely, you have. There is a reason for this.

The phrase, “don’t reinvent the wheel” is said for a reason we often tend to ignore. We waste our time trying to be “new” when we have had within ourselves what we needed to grow all along. I was in the corporate world for over 12 years. I didn’t know I had the gift within me to be an event planner until my mother, who loved decor, passed away from domestic violence six years ago.

The harsh reality is that in order to grow, we must be uncomfortable. We must go outside of our comfort zones and do what we have been afraid to do.

If you step out and fail. So, what? Use that as a lesson to apply to the future. There is no such thing as failure. In fact, that is the only way growth can take place. Growth eats failure for lunch. Don’t keep dining at the table of starting a new you every year or every quarter. Go after your dreams, goals and aspirations head first by charting new and scary territories that make you shake in your boots.

Ulonda D Drayton is a Life Navigator who helps women embrace their journey by defining or redefining their authentic path…the path God created them to travel. Her mission is to Empower Women to live their Life of Purpose on PURPOSE! “Your life journey is your life journey, you just have to learn how to navigate through it,” says the South Carolina native.

Women naturally gravitate toward her as if they can see an x-ray of her internal passion for helping guide them through their life journey. Ulonda discovered that women either did not know their purpose or were trying to avoid it. The 42 year old wants women to know the power and authority they have in knowing who they really are and they have the Power to “Alt-Shift-Delete” any situation in their lives. Alternate their thought patterns to a more positive thought, Shift their mindset to align with their life of purpose and Delete all negativity blocking them from living their life of Purpose on Purpose.

Ulonda has been navigating women through life for over 20 years. In helping others navigate through this journey called life, Ulonda is blessed to have the full support of her husband, her daughter and son. She loves traveling, singing, laughing and building memories with her family.

Ulonda is now on a mission to help women change their perspective and embrace their purpose. Ulonda is also co-founder of US, LLC, an organization focusing on breaking multicultural lines through discussion and conversation and Advanced Professional Technical Solutions (APTS) a technical solution company that provides their clients with multiple technical ideas and solutions.

Today Ulonda offers a range of programs and services from individual coaching sessions, group coaching sessions, to seminars, conferences and motivational speaking to help aid women with their personal development.

Ulonda D. Drayton is an Engineer by trade and by design a Life Navigator to women, especially of faith or in corporate America, who want to discover their purpose or redefine their authentic path. Wanting to make a positive impact to help families and parents, Ulonda needed to determine the best way to make a difference. After contemplating being a family judge and even a teacher, Ulonda was already making an impact in her everyday life rather she realized it or not.

Although, Ulonda’s initial career path plans shifted after giving birth to her daughter as a junior in college, she would soon learn how to navigate her life where she was. Intending on making a career choice based off her passion ending up turning into a career decision based off the need to provide for her family financially as a single mother. Her internal passion showed up even in her not-so-ideal external circumstances.
